Education Intern Responsibilities:
As an Education Intern, you will gain in-depth fieldwork experience by designing, facilitating, and teaching programs that address the needs of special needs children, guided by our professional therapist. Interns will assist in facilitation of afterschool programs, scheduled school field trips, and weekend workshops. The Education Intern will have the opportunity to work alongside staff and independently as a special needs children educator.
 

Awareness Event Ambassador Responsibilities:
All Animals for YOUNG interns will also be expected to serve in an Awareness Event Ambassador capacity to help spread awareness and raise funds for our charity events. Areas of work may include our point-of-sale and registration system (admission fees, memberships, workshop registrations, retail), donor management, group sales and event management, volunteer tracking, reception, client inquiries, and research.

 

Intern Qualifications
• Experience with educational programming and/or hands-on programming for psychology, early childhood or special needs area
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of audiences including children, teachers, parents/caregivers and community members
• Experience working with diverse groups and communities
• Access to reliable transportation
• Flexibility, sense of humor, highly collaborative, and resourceful
• Interest in nonprofit management, education, and community development
• A willingness to connect with Animals for YOUNG programs, services, and mission
• Must be available at least two months for full time internship;
